Edwidge Danticat

Edwidge Danticat was born in Haiti and moved to the United States when she was twelve. Danticat earned a degree in French Literature from Barnard College, and later an MFA from Brown University. She is the author of several books, including Breath, Eyes, Memory; Krik? Krak!, a National Book Award finalist--making Danticat the youngest nominee ever; The Farming of Bones; and The Dew Breaker, which received an American Book Award. Danticat has written several books for children and young adults, including, Claire of the Sea Light, and Anacaona, Golden Flower. She is also the editor of Haiti Noir; The Butterfly's Way: Voices from the Haitian Dyaspora in the United States and The Beacon Best of 2000: Great Writing by Men and Women of All Colors and Cultures. Danticat's other honors include the National Book Critics Circle Award, for her memoir Brother, I'm Dying. She is a recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, and has taught writing at the University of Miami and New York University. Edwidge Danticat fèt an Ayiti, men li imigre Ozetazini depi a laj douzan.
