Today, media are struggling to maintain credibility as they cover everything from local breaking news to a combative White House that has weaponized criticism of the media. In response, some journalists have positioned themselves as both objective truth-tellers and advocates for the communities they serve, two sides of the journalism coin that supposedly cannot coexist. The credibility gap between media and audiences is growing, nationally as well as locally, where choices on what to cover have been feeding negative stereotypes and division for decades. Join prominent reporters as they discuss how contemporary journalism requires a fundamental upending of the way those who report the news understand their stories—and themselves. With Enrique Acevedo, Earnest Perry, and Mike Wilson. Moderated by Maria Len-Rios.
