(Perry, Earnest L.) Earnest L. Perry is Associate Dean, Graduate Studies at the Missouri School of Journalism. Previously, Perry worked as a journalist in Texas, Illinois, Connecticut and Missouri before earning his master’s and doctorate degrees at Missouri. He has published articles on diversity and inclusion, media history and management in several journals including American Journalism, Journalism History, Journalism Educator, and Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly. Perry co-edited, with Dr. Maria Len-Rios, Cross-Cultural Journalism: Communication Strategically About Diversity, which lays the foundation to help budding journalists understand how to communicate with people of backgrounds that may be different than their own. Perry is a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Standing Committee on Teaching and former chair of the Standing Committee on Research. He is a former president of the American Journalism Historians Association.
