Q: When do tickets for Evenings With, Weekend and Special Event sessions go on sale?
A: Tickets to Evenings With, Weekend and Special Events will be available to the general public on November 6, 2017 at 10 a.m. (and to Friends of the Fair on October 18, 2017 at 10 a.m.).
Q: How do I purchase tickets?
A: When tickets for the event you would like to attend go on sale, you’ll be able to purchase them online through this link. Early ticket sales are linked to the account you create when you join the Friends of the Fair, so you’ll need to login to purchase early tickets. Q: What are the benefits to joining Friends of the Fair?
A: Member benefits vary by level, but a few of the benefits all Friends receive include:
- Access to reserve and purchase tickets two weeks in advance of the general public
- Preferential seating in designated areas at major venues
- Free admission to the Weekend Street Fair and for Friends at Writer’s level or above, access to the Friends Hospitality Lounge where you can relax between sessions and enjoy a complimentary beverage and light snack.
- Placement on priority mailing lists for periodic e-mails or mailings containing information about Book Fair events throughout the year.
Q: How do I join Friends of the Fair?
A: There are a few different ways to become a Friend of the Fair:
Online: If paying by credit card, a 4% service fee will be added to your membership total.

Q: What is the difference between “Evenings With” and “Special Events” tickets?
A: Some of the presentations for Book Fair events require the purchase of a ticket to attend.
“Evenings With” events feature notable authors and public figures, and require an advance ticket purchase. As a Friend of the Fair, you receive the benefit of ordering your tickets two weeks in advance of the general public. You can redeem your complimentary tickets for Evenings with.
“Special Events” also require an advance ticket, but the cost of the ticket includes a copy of the presenting author’s book, which you can pick up starting an hour before the presentation from the Books & Books table outside the presentation venue with your ticket purchase. Your pre-sale benefit also applies to these events.
Please note: “Special Events” do NOT count towards complimentary tickets you may be entitled to as part of your membership. The number of complimentary tickets you are eligible to redeem is dependent on your Friends membership level.
Q: Where do I order my complimentary tickets?
A: When tickets for events are set to go on sale for Friends, you’ll receive an email from the Book Fair letting you know when you can purchase them. The email will clearly explain the process for receiving your complimentary or advance tickets. And if you prefer to purchase tickets by phone, you can always call IMG directly at 305.460.6575. They’ll be happy to expedite your transaction and ensure you are receiving the benefits of your membership.
Q: When will I receive my Friends badges and membership materials in the mail?
A: We usually mail out badges and the Fair Guide to Friends about a month ahead of the November Book Fair, so you can expect to receive them in the mail in mid-late October.
Q: What if I don’t receive my Friends badges and membership materials in the mail?
A: If there’s an oversight on our part, and the package with your badge and Fair Guide doesn’t arrive by mail or if you lose your badge or forget to bring it with you to the Book Fair, you can pick those items up at the Friends table on the lower level of the Chapman Building next to the escalators. If you arrive at the Book Fair during the Street Fair, when entry to the Fair is secure and tickets are needed to enter, let the person at the ticketing entrance know you are a Friend of the Fair. They keep a list of Friends to ensure entry in the event that anyone needs to pick up their badge when they arrive. And once you’ve entered the Book Fair, we’ll have a badge for you in the Chapman Lobby.
Q: Where do I park for Book Fair Events on the Miami Dade Wolfson Campus?
A: Parking for all Book Fair events on the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus is FREE at the Miami Dade College parking garage at 500 N.E. 2nd Avenue. The entrance is located on N.E. 5th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenue. If you are attending an event during the November Book Fair, you may want to plan to arrive a little early to find a parking spot as traffic to and from the Fair can be heavy. During the rest of the year, you just need to let the security guard know you are coming to attend a Book Fair event, and they’ll let you park for free.
