Due to unforeseen circumstances, Cornelius Eady is unable to lead his “What The Poem Wants” workshop at this year’s Miami Writers Institute.
Nationally renowned Miami-based poet Campbell McGrath will be teaching the poetry writing workshop in Eady’s place.

Campbell McGrath is an internationally celebrated poet whose work has earned him just about every major literary prize in North America. He is a professor of creative writing who has mentored and helped shape multiple generations of aspiring poets in South Florida, a brilliant mind and an experienced teacher of poetry in equal measure.
McGrath is the author of ten books of poetry, including Spring Comes to Chicago, Florida Poems, Seven Notebooks, and most recently XX: Poems for the Twentieth Century (Ecco Press), a Finalist for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize. He has received many of America’s major literary prizes for his work, including the Kingsley Tufts Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a MacArthur Fellowship, a USA Knight Fellowship, and a Witter-Bynner Fellowship from the Library of Congress. His poetry has appeared in the New Yorker, Harper’s, Atlantic and on the op-ed page of the New York Times, as well as in scores of literary reviews and quarterlies. Born in Chicago, he lives with his family in Miami Beach and teaches at Florida International University, where he is the Philip and Patricia Frost Professor of Creative Writing.
