CELEBRATING THE NATIONAL BOOK AWARD NOMINEES FOR TRANSLATED LITERATURE

LISA DILLMAN translates Spanish, Catalan, and Latin American writers. She teaches in the Spanish and Portuguese department at Emory University in Atlanta. Some of her recent translations include A Silent Fury by Yuri Herrera, A Luminous Republic by Andrés Barba, The Touch System by Alejandra Costamagna, and Abyss (‎World Editions) by Pilar Quintana, for which Dillman has been longlisted for a 2023 National Book Award for Translated Literature.

SAM TAYLOR has written for The Guardian, Financial Times, Vogue, and Esquire, and has translated such works as the award winning HHhH by Laurent Binet, and the international bestseller The Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair by Joël Dicker.

Stênio Gardel was born in 1980 in the rural northeast of Brazil. The Words That Remain is his first novel. It was nominated in two major Brazilian literary awards: São Paulo Literature Award 2022 for best debut novel and Jabuti Award 2022 for best literary novel.
