A graduate of both Harvard and Oxford University, Wallace Shawn is an Obie Award-winning playwright and a noted stage and screen actor, whose credits include Manhattan, All That Jazz, Star Trek, Gossip Girl, The Princess Bride, and Toy Story. His plays The Designated Mourner and Marie and Bruce have recently been produced as films. He is co-author of the critically acclaimed cult classic movie My Dinner with Andre and author of the plays The Fever, The Designated Mourner, Aunt Dan and Lemon, and Grasses of a Thousand Colors. Shawn is the author of the nonfiction collection Essays, in which he stepped back from the appearance of things to explore their deeper social meanings. In his latest collection, Night Thoughts (Haymarket Books), Shawn takes on the most essential questions about our world, including civilization, morality, Beethoven, 11th-century Japanese court poetry, and his hopes for a better world.

Tickets for this event are $15 and will be required for admission to this presentation. Seating with a ticket is on a “first come, first served” basis. Seats will only be held up to ten (10) minutes before the start of the session. Tickets for unfilled seats will be distributed to the standby line on a first come first served basis. (plus a $2 handling fee charged by our ticketing provider, IMG Tickets).
