THOMAS SWICK was the travel editor of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel from 1989 to 2008. His work has appeared in numerous print and online publications, and he is the author of Unquiet Days: At Home in Poland; A Way to See the World: From Texas to Transylvania with a Maverick Traveler; The Joys of Travel: And Stories That Illuminate Them; and Falling into Place: A Story of Love, Poland, and the Making of a Travel Writer (Rowman & Littlefield Publishers). He lives with his wife, Hania, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and does cartooning and street photography in his free time.
