Terry Sweeney graduated from Middlebury College where he studied creative writing. He was a writer for Saturday Night Live. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the cult Southern film Shag, which was recently chosen by Garden and Gun magazine as one of The South’s Ten Greatest Films. Sweeney later joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in the 80’s, and made history as the first openly gay performer on American television. Sweeney’s first book of humorous essays, Irritable Bowels and The People Who Give You Them (Duke Street Press), examines a crazy world that could tie anyone’s bowels in a knot. From bullied gay kid of blue-collar bigots to successful film and television writer/performer, his showbiz horror stories will take you on a delightfully acid-tongued trip to Hollywood Hell and back; and ultimately to the heart of Dixie in the reddest state in the Union. This book is for anyone who’s ever asked themselves can I walk.
