MICHAEL RUHLMAN is the author of If You Can’t Take the Heat (Penguin Workshop) and 12 previous nonfiction books, including The Making of a Chef and its follow-ups, The Soul of a Chef and The Reach of a Chef. He is the recipient of two James Beard awards – one for magazine feature writing and the other for Twenty: The Ideas and Techniques that Will Make You a Better Cook. He has co-authored many cookbooks, such as The French Laundry Cookbook, Bouchon, Under Pressure, Ad Hoc At Home, and Bouchon Bakery with Thomas Keller. In 2015, he published his first work of fiction, In Short Measures: Three Novellas.
