Born in Havana, Cuba, María Carla Chicuén moved to the United States as a teenager and completed middle and high school in Florida. In 2010, she obtained her Bachelor´s Degree with High Honors in History from Harvard University, and a Master´s Degree in International Relations with Merit from the London School of Economics the following year. Over the course of her professional career Chicuén has advised students from Europe, Latin America, Asia and North America throughout their successful applications to selective universities around the world.
