Josaphat-Robert Large is a Haitian-American poet novelist and art critic whose novel Les terres entourées de larmes [Shore Surrounded With Tears] won the prestigious “Prix littéraire des Caraïbes” in 2003. His short story “Rosanna” was one of the most arresting short stories in Haiti Noir (Akashic Books, 2011). Large is a member of the Society of French Intellectuals, the Association of Writers of French Origin, and the PEN Club America. The Society of French and Francophone Teachers of America organized two colloquia on his literary production: one at Florida International University (2001) and another at Fordham University (2006). Large also participated in the famous festival Étonnants-Voyageurs in 2007 and in 2008, he was one of the authors invited to the great literary opening organized in Port-au-Prince by the Presses Nationales d’Haiti. Mississippi Blues (Ruptures, 2015) is his latest novel.
