Lauren Wolk is an award-winning poet, artist, and author of the adult novel Those Who Favor Fire. She has worked as, among other things, a writer with the Battered Women’s Project of the St. Paul American Indian Center, a senior editor with Nelson Publishing in Toronto, a freelance editor and writer, a magazine feature writer, a high school English and Creative Writing teacher at Sturgis Charter School, Assistant Director of the Cape Cod Writers’ Center, and now Associate Director at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. Wolf Hollow (Dutton Books for Young Readers) takes place in a small Pennsylvania town, in the aftermath of two world wars. Annabelle has lived a mostly quiet, steady life, but must find the integrity to stand up for a reclusive WWI veteran who is being bullied by a new girl in town. Wolf Hollow is a haunting tale of America at a crossroads and a time when one girl’s resilience and strength help to illuminate the darkest corners of our history. Sarah Pennypacker writes, “The honesty of Wolf Hollow will just about shred your heart…This book matters.”
