Open to writers of all experience levels, this class will guide participants through pitching and selling their work in the wide world of genre science fiction and fantasy. With longer manuscripts like novels, you’ll learn how to craft a query that highlights your worldbuilding while also hooking the reader on your characters and plot. We’ll also explore the SFF short fiction markets: what are they, what kinds of short fiction are editors and magazines looking for, and how can you stand out in the submissions pile? At the end of the class, we’ll have a Q&A so you can feel ready to forge your own path through the stars. Pack your second breakfast and a notebook—we’re going on an adventure!

Learn how to pitch and sell your Fantasy and Science Fiction writing to the right markets.

Alex Yuschik is a recent PhD graduate in mathematics and SFF writer whose short fiction has appeared in Strange Horizons, Escape Pod, and Glittership. When not writing, Alex enjoys learning languages, playing casters in TTRPGs, and picking heavy things up and putting them down in the early hours of the morning.
