Vodou (in its various forms) is an integral cornerstone of West African roots culture. Contemporary authors and scholars will explore different facets of Vodou, offering fresh and diverse perspectives on the subject. Mimerose Beaubrun

Mimerose Beaubrun, also known as Manzè, was born in Ouanaminthe, Haiti. She obtained a degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the School of Ethnology in Port-au-Prince. She is the co-founder and lead singer of the renowned band Boukman Eksperyans whose members are active in Haiti's pro-democracy movement. She’s a fierce promoter of Haitian culture, particularly of the concept of “Lakou,” a self-reliant community focused on its cultural heritage. Beaubrun started her writing career in 1998, when she co-authored Livre ouvert sur le développement endogène d’Haïti. She’s an independent researcher with a deep understanding of Haitian culture, music, and Vodou. Her research has focused on the roots of “Rasin” music. In 2002, she was named a Peace and Goodwill Ambassador because of her unremitting quest for promoting love, peace, respect, and unity through her music, which transcends cultural barriers. Mimerose Beaubrun, Manzè de son nom d’artiste, naît à Ouanaminthe. A la Faculté d’Ethnologie de Port-au-Prince, elle obtient un diplôme en anthropologie sociale et culturelle. Chanteuse vedette et co-fondatrice du groupe musical Boukman Eksperyans, Manzè s’engage dans la promotion de la culture haïtienne et du concept Lakou (un système de vie communautaire où les individus s’entraident et s’attachent à leur héritage culturel). Elle se tourne vers l’écriture au début des années 1998 pour co-écrire Livre ouvert sur le développement endogène d’Haïti. Chercheuse de terrain pratique (indépendante), Manzè maintient un lien étroit avec le monde de la musique et du vodou haïtien. Ses recherches dans le domaine musical portent, par exemple, sur les différentes tendances de la musique « Rasin » dans l’ensemble du territoire haïtien. En 2002, elle est nommée Ambassadrice de Bonne Volonté pour la Paix et le Développement, en honneur de son inlassable effort pour promouvoir l’amour, la paix, le respect et l’unité, à travers une musique qui transcende les barrières culturelles.
