The Jazz Collective

The Jazz Collective is an elite after-school ensemble that brings together some of the most talented young jazz musicians in Miami. Founded by Young Musicians Unite (YMU), the program offers students a pre-professional experience designed to challenge and prepare them for the next steps in their musical journeys, from college programs and scholarships to professional careers in the music industry.

Comprising select musicians from schools across the city, the Collective meets weekly for intensive rehearsals and performs regularly at prestigious venues and community events. Its repertoire spans a dynamic range – from modern jazz compositions to classic jazz club standards – allowing members to explore the depth and versatility of the genre. Students work closely with professional jazz mentors, gaining not only technical mastery and ensemble skills but also real-world insight into the demands of performance and collaboration. Through these experiences, the YMU Jazz Collective fosters artistry, discipline, and leadership, inspiring Miami’s next generation of jazz innovators.
