Join us online for Speak Up, a teen creative writing program supporting the artistic and professional growth of teens.

 

In this FREE virtual creative writing workshop mini-series, teens will partner with experienced teaching artists to empower the creative writing process, from drafting to performance to publishing, to boost literacy and empower youth in Miami through community-based writing activities.

The program is open to all teens (ages 13-19) and is as free of charge as it is free of homework. No previous experience necessary!

  • February 18, Ari Tison:
    Ari Tison is a Bribri American and African descended poet and author of SAINTS OF THE HOUSEHOLD (2023) with FSG/BFYR and another forthcoming YA in 2024. She is a contributor in a number of anthologies including Latine YA anthology OUR SHADOWS HAVE CLAWS (Algonquin 2022) and RELIT: 16 LATINX REMIXES OF CLASSIC STORIES (HarperCollins 2024). Her poetry has been featured in literary journals such as Rock & Sling, Yellow Medicine Review, The Under Review, and POETRY’s first issue for young people. She has her MFAC from Hamline University and teaches in their MFA program. She is represented by Sara Crowe at Pippin Properties and lives on a valley farm with her husband and family.
