ALEXANDRA CHANG is the author of Days of Distraction. She is a National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 honoree, and her writing has appeared in Zoetrope: All-Story, The New York Times, Harper's Bazaar, Guernica, and elsewhere.

HALLE HILL is a writer from East Tennessee. She is a PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize nominee, winner of the 2021 Crystal Wilkinson Creative Writing Prize, and a finalist for the 2021 American Society of Magazine Editors ASME Award for Fiction. Her work is featured in Joyland, New Limestone Review, and Oxford American, among others. She lives in Greensboro, North Carolina.

JENNIFER MARITZA MCCAULEY is a writer, poet, university professor, and faculty member at the Yale Young Writers’ Workshop 2023. She has been awarded fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts in prose, Kimbilio for Black Fiction, CantoMundo, and the Sundress Academy for the Arts. She holds an MFA from Florida International University and a Ph.D. in creative writing and literature from the University of Missouri. She has received awards from the Independent Publisher Book Awards, Academy of American Poets, and Best of the Net Anthology. She has also received a Pushcart Prize Special Mention and was a finalist for the Prairie Schooner Raz-Shumaker Book Prize in fiction. When Trying to Return Home was an Editors’ Choice from The New York Times; named a Book of the Day by New York Public Library; received starred reviews from both Kirkus and Publishers Weekly; considered a best book of the month by Kirkus, Ms., and the Southern Review of Books; and named one of the “Best Books to Read in 2023” by the Today show.
