Aundrea White Kelley earned her B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from Swarthmore. After working in the corporate and non-profit sectors, she earned an M.S. in Public Policy and an M.B.A., both from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Her public service career focused on collaborative initiatives to resolve education policy challenges. At the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education, she held a succession of impactful positions, including Commissioner (Acting). Quincy College recruited her as chief academic officer and after successfully leading its effort to secure all accreditations, she retired 

Harold Buchanan earned a B.A. in Mathematics from Swarthmore College, and was one of the first to earn a Concentration in Black Studies. He is a retired computer technology professional from New Jersey. He is also an accomplished photographer with a passion for nature and travel photography. He has traveled extensively to observe and photograph wildlife. Harold is a co-founder of the Swarthmore Black Alumni Network (SBAN). 

Jannette O. Domingo earned a B.A. in Political Science/International Relations with a Concentration in Black Studies at Swarthmore; M.A. in Economics at McGill University; and M.Phil and Ph.D. in Economics at Columbia University. She is Professor Emerita and retired Dean of Graduate Studies at John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York where she also chaired the Department of African American Studies, directed the Ronald McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, and co-founded the Police Studies Certificate Program. 

Marilyn Allman Maye earned a B.A. from Swarthmore College in mathematics and sociology–anthropology with a concentration in black studies. She earned an M.A.T. in mathematics from Harvard University, and an M.A. in mathematical statistics and Ed.D. in mathematics education from Columbia University. A tenured professor, she has consulted regionally and nationally for school districts, departments of education, and professional development organizations. She led technology teams for New York City. She has authored three books, one of which she co-authored with her husband, Warren. 

Marilyn Holifield, a partner in Holland & Knight, an international law firm, earned a B. A. in economics and a Concentration in Black Studies from Swarthmore College and a Juris Doctor from Harvard. Her legal career started at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. She was appointed General Counsel of New York State Division for Youth. At Holland & Knight, she became the first black woman partner of a major law firm in Florida.  Seven Sisters and a Brother (Books & Books Press) tells the story of seven women and one man at the heart of the historical eight-day sit-in at Swarthmore College in 1969 protesting decreased enrollment and hiring of African Americans and demanding a Black Studies curriculum. Written by the former students themselves — Joyce Frisby Baynes, Harold S Buchanan, Jannette O. Domingo, Marilyn J. Holifield, Aundrea White Kelley, Marilyn Allman Maye, Myra E. Rose Rose, and Bridget Van Gronigen Warren — Seven Sisters… also includes autobiographical chapters, providing a cross-sectional view into the lives of young people during the Civil Rights era. In the process, the book provides a necessary and overdue retelling of the revolution that took place at Swarthmore College. The actions of this group of students not only led to the school’s greater inclusiveness but also had an impact on universities around the country. The authors also share how friendships, out-of-the-box alliances, and a commitment to moral integrity strengthened them to push through and remain resilient in the face of adversity.

Myra E. Rose earned B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Biology at Swarthmore College and an M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine. Postgraduate training included internal medicine residency at Washington Hospital Center and fellowship training in hematology and oncology at Emory University. She entered private practice for a few years but eventually joined the Department of Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine as a member of the clinical faculty. Following a series of teaching and leadership assignments at Morehouse she became department chair and has served as program director for the residency program, hospice medical director, and chief of medical oncology.
