Come geek out with us, as we discuss the business behind comic books, with a focus on their adaptation into video games. Learn about the challenges (and blessings!) of the comic book landscape for video game writers and developers, and how YOU can become a creator of comic books and video games. With video game writer Wes Locher, comic book writer and artist Juan Navarro, and YouTuber at Red Bandana Gaming Thomas B. Logan. A live Q&A will follow the discussion.

BIOS:

Wes Locher has more than a decade of professional writing experience across the mediums of comic books, video games, journalism, fiction, and more. Known primarily for his writing on the sci-fi/humor comic Unit 44 from Alterna Comics, Wes has written five graphic novels, numerous one-shots, and countless short comics. By day, Wes works as a video game writer for developer Magic Tavern where he served as the lead writer on the smash hit mobile game Project Makeover. Wes’s nonfiction work has been featured by outlets such as Wired, VentureBeat, GameDeveloper, and the TED Talks podcast Far Flung. Wes is a 2014 graduate of Full Sail University’s Creative Writing Bachelor’s program and now serves as a Program Advisory Committee member for the school’s writing programs.

Juan Navarro is a Writer/Artist from Miami, Florida, Artist/Writer of Creature Entertainment, Creator of comic series: Tommy, Zombie Years and VIGIL, and currently working on the development of REZ. Owner of THE GOBLINS HEIST in Hialeah.

Thomas B. Logan is an Irish American hardcore gamer, professional artist, and comic book collector who lives in Orlando, FL. He served for many years as the Geek culture editor at Sliver of Stone Magazine. He now runs Red Bandana Gaming on YouTube.
