Manuscript Consultations with Liz Van Hoose
Various times, as appointed (Wed., May 9 – Fri., May 11) | Consultations are limited to 30 people.
Genre preferences: Adult trade general fiction, memoir, and narrative nonfiction. Please no thrillers/YA/sci-fi/erotica/romance.
Manuscripts must be a max of 10 double-spaced pages, formatted as follows:
- Must include a single-spaced, one-page synopsis of the overall manuscript.
- 12-point font, Times New Roman, with 1-inch margins.
- Double-spaced, with page numbers and the author’s name and email in the header of each page.
- Files must be in .doc, .docx, or .pdf
Once you have registered online, please email your 1-page synopsis and 10-page manuscript to Marci Cancio-Bello at mcanciob@mdc.edu by midnight on Monday, April 30, 2018.
Liz Van Hoose is an independent editor who engages with authors, agents, and trade book publishers. For more than a decade, she worked in the editorial departments of Viking Penguin and Alfred A. Knopf, where she edited a wide range of fiction and nonfiction, including works by Martin Clark, Ron Currie, Jr., Kim Edwards, Alex Gilvarry, Garrison Keillor, William Kittredge, Robert Love, Dan Morrison, Haruki Murakami, Jim Shepard, Amor Towles, Jessica Maria Tuccelli, and Danielle Trussoni. She has been a guest editor for writers’ conferences at Bread Loaf, Sewanee, and Aspen Summer Words. She is also a member of 5E, an independent editors’ collective.
*Manuscript consultation fees are not reading fees and do not go to the agent; rather, they support the programs and initiatives of Miami Book Fair.
