Dwyer Murphy is a writer, editor, and editor-in-chief of CrimeReads, Literary Hub’s crime fiction vertical and a popular destination for thriller readers. He practiced law at Debevoise & Plimpton in New York City and served as editor of Columbia Law Review. His writing has appeared in The Common, Rolling Stone, Guernica, The Paris Review Daily, Electric Literature, and other publications. He’s been interviewed and featured in Bon Appétit, The New York Times, PopSugar, the Miami Herald, Ocean Drive, and Miami New Times, to name a few. Gutierrez will be at Miami Book Fair 2022 to moderate a conversation with Dwyer Murphy, An Honest Living, and Jason Rekulak, Hidden Pictures: A Novel.

Jason Rekulak is the author of The Impossible Fortress, which was translated into 12 languages and nominated for the Edgar Award. For many years, he was the publisher of indie press Quirk Books, where he acquired and edited multiple New York Times bestsellers. In Hidden Pictures: A Novel (Flatiron Books), Mallory Quinn, fresh out of rehab, takes a job as a babysitter for Ted and Caroline Maxwell. She is to look after their 5-year-old son, Teddy. She loves it. She has her own living space, goes out for nightly runs, and has the stability she craves. And she sincerely bonds with Teddy, a sweet, shy boy who is never without his sketchbook and pencil. His drawings are the usual fare: trees, rabbits, balloons. But one day, he draws something different: a man dragging a woman’s lifeless body in a forest. Then, Teddy’s artwork becomes increasingly sinister, and his stick figures quickly evolve into lifelike sketches well beyond the ability of any child.
