Marsha S. Bordner‘s presents the memoir of her husband, Harold H. Brown, in Keep Your Airspeed Up: The Story of a Tuskegee Airman, which recounts the journey of an African American man who, through dedication to his goals and vision, rose through the despair of racial segregation to great heights of accomplishment. Joe Starita‘s A Warrior of the People: How Susan La Flesche Overcame Racial and Gender Inequality to Become America’s First Indian Doctor is the story of a woman who crashed through thick walls of ethnic, racial, and gender prejudice, then spent the rest of her life using a unique bicultural identity to improve the lot of her people.
