Mecca will be your master of ceremonies at the Little Haiti Book Festival, guiding you through an unforgettable event as you enjoy the heart-pumping beats of DJ Nicky Mix, one of the most famous Haitian DJs of the diaspora. 

Mecca “Grimo” Marcelin is a dedicated cultural ambassador and advocate for creative expression. Hailing from a family of musicians and poets, including his great uncle, Félix Morisseau-LeRoy—a renowned poet known for breaking language barriers with Haitian Creole—Mecca embraced music and spoken word/poetry from a young age. He joined Wyclef Jean’s “Sak Pase” Label in 2006, becoming a prominent figure in the hip-hop Kreyol movement.

Mecca has hosted monthly soirees called “Poetic Lakay” at the Caribbean Marketplace in Miami’s Little Haiti, showcasing his passion for spoken word and poetry. He has also facilitated Little Haiti field trips, offering cultural excursions through the Little Haiti Cultural Center and supporting local businesses in the area.

As the founder of the non-profit organization “Hope Chest of Dreams” (also known as “FePouLi”), Mecca has created a platform for people of all ages to express themselves and explore education through the arts, further cementing his commitment to fostering creativity and cultural pride in the community.
