A happy hour conversation series on the writing craft

You’ve had an immersive day of writing workshops and readings- you want to keep going but you need a refresh! Enjoy a change of scenery and wind-down with a craft beer as you explore different aspects of writing with our craft talk series.

Mentorship and Canonizing with Tiphanie Yanique
Who do you write for? What traditions are you writing alongside? What texts are you writing against? Knowing the answers to these questions prevents you from writing overly familiar literature and puts you on a path towards creating something new, something the reading world needs. In this craft class we will explore how actual texts serve as mentorship, how to learn from your masters (dead or alive) and how to create your own personal cannon.

Interior Renovation: The Search for the Profound in Creative Nonfiction with Brian Turner
With a literary tool belt and an eye toward renovation, Brian will talk about knocking out some of the walls, putting in skylights, and revamping the inner corridors so that all of the rooms interconnect with one another.
