JAYNE ANNE PHILLIPS is the author of Black Tickets: Stories, Machine Dreams, Fast Lanes, Shelter, MotherKind, Lark and Termite, and Quiet Dell: A Novel. She is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Bunting Fellowship, and two National Endowment for the Arts fellowships. She also received an American Academy of Arts and Letters award and the Sue Kaufman Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and was inducted into the academy in 2018. A National Book Award finalist, and twice a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, Phillips lives in New York and Boston. Night Watch: A Novel (Knopf) is her latest work.

A recipient of an American Academy of Arts and Letters award, among other honors, Urrea lives outside Chicago and teaches at the University of Illinois Chicago.

SHELLEY READ’s internationally bestselling debut novel, Go as a River, is being translated into more than 30 languages and has been optioned for film by Mazur Kaplan in partnership with Fifth Season. She taught writing and literature as a senior lecturer at Western Colorado University for nearly three decades, where she was also a founder of the environment and sustainability major, as well as a program for at-risk students. She holds degrees in writing and literary studies from the University of Denver and Temple University and is a regular contributor to Crested Butte Magazine and Gunnison Valley Journal. She is a fifth-generation Coloradoan who lives with her family in the Elk Mountains of the state’s Western Slope.
