(Eig, Jonathan) Jonathan Eig is the author of four critically acclaimed books, two of them New York Times bestsellers: Luckiest Man: The Life and Death of Lou Gehrig; Opening Day: The Story of Jackie Robinson’s First Season; Get Capone; and, most recently, The Birth of the Pill: How Four Crusaders Reinvented Sex and Launched a Revolution. He is currently working with documentarian Ken Burns to develop a documentary on Muhammad Ali. In Ali: A Life (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), Eig describes Ali’s journey from being one of the most despised men in the country to one of the most beloved. Based on interviews with the people who knew Ali best, thousands of pages of new FBI and Justice Department files, as well dozens of hours of newly discovered audiotaped interviews, Ali is a story about race, about a brutal sport, and about a fascinating man who shook up the world.
