GEORGE PACKER is an author and staff writer at The Atlantic. His books include The Unwinding: An Inner History of the New America, winner of the National Book Award; The Assassins’ Gate: America in Iraq; and Our Man: Richard Holbrooke and the End of the American Century, winner of the Hitchens Prize and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for biography. He is also the author of two novels and a play, and the editor of a two-volume edition of the essays of George Orwell.

MEENAKSHI AHAMED is a freelance journalist and the author of A Matter of Trust: India-US Relations from Truman to Trump, a sweeping narrative history of the turbulent 70-year relationship between the two countries. Her writing has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, Seminar magazine, The Asian Age, and CNN. She has worked at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., and for New Delhi Television, and served on the boards of Doctors Without Borders, Drugs for Neglected Diseases, and Vellore Christian Medical College Foundation. Ahamed was born in Calcutta, India, and received an MA from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. She divides her time between New York, Los Angeles, and New Delhi.

TODD S. PURDUM is a veteran journalist and author. In a career spanning more than 40 years, he has written widely about politics and culture, starting at The New York Times, where he spent 23 years covering politics from city hall to the White House, later serving as a diplomatic correspondent and the Los Angeles bureau chief. He has also been a staff writer at Vanity Fair, Politico, and The Atlantic. He is the author of Something Wonderful: Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Broadway Revolution and An Idea Whose Time Has Come: Two Presidents, Two Parties, and the Battle for the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
