ADRIAN CASTRO was born in Miami from a Caribbean heritage which has provided fertile ground for the rhythmic Afro-Caribbean style in which he writes and performs. He is the author of Cantos to Blood & Honey (Coffee House Press 1997), Wise Fish (Coffee House Press, 2005), and Handling Destiny (Coffee House Press 2009). He also has been published in many literary anthologies, including the Norton Anthology of Latino Literature and Latino Poetry: The Library of America Anthology. He received a USA Knight Foundation Fellowship, a Cintas Fellowship, a State of Florida Individual Artist Fellowship, and the Eric Mathieu King award from the Academy of American Poets. He is also a board-certified Doctor of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine and herbalist.
