CLÉMENCE MICHALLON, author of The Quiet Tenant: A Novel (Vintage), was born and raised near Paris. She studied journalism at City University of London, received a master’s in journalism from Columbia University, and wrote for The Independent for several years before going freelance in 2024. Her essays and features have covered true crime, celebrity culture, and literature. She moved to New York City in 2014 and recently became a U.S. citizen. She now divides her time between New York City and Rhinebeck, New York.
