DINAW MENGESTU, author of Someone Like Us: A Novel (Knopf), has written three previous novels, all of them named Notable Books by The New York Times: All Our Names, How to Read the Air, and The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears. His articles and fiction have appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Harper’s, and other publications. A native of Ethiopia who came to the United States with his family at the age of 2, Mengestu is a 2012 MacArthur Fellow, a recipient of a Lannan Literary Fellowship for Fiction, and a National Book Foundation “5 Under 35” honoree.
