Memoir Workshop with Nikki Moustaki

Tuesdays, February 21 – April 4 (6 weeks, no class on March 21) / 7 – 9 p.m.

Take your memoir writing to the next level with this memoir writing workshop led by Nikki Moustaki, author of 46 works of book-length nonfiction, including the memoir The Bird Market of Paris. Whether you’ve just started writing or you’re experienced in creative nonfiction, you will find a place in this workshop, which aims to hone your current skills as well as offer new techniques. We will also discuss the marketplace and publishing. No workshop experience required.

Nikki Moustaki’s editorial experience spans both commercial and literary worlds. She has worked as a non-fiction acquisitions editor at Macmillan Publishing and held a year-long internship at a renown HarperCollins imprint working with editors. As a fulltime writer, she has spent more than twenty years working with agents and editors on commercial projects, and submitting her literary and commercial work for publication in newspapers, lit mags, and glossies. She is recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Grant in poetry, has been nominated three times for a Pushcart Prize, and has been awarded many national prizes for her poetry, nonfiction, and fiction, which have appeared in dozens of magazines and journals, such as The New York Times, Publishers Weekly, and Good Housekeeping. Her memoir, The Bird Market of Paris, won Elle magazine’s “Lettres 2015 Reader’s Prize,” and was featured in Glamour magazine. Oprah’s O Magazine named the book a “burn it down memoir from women who lived their truth.” Her magazine articles, columns, and blogs reach over two million readers a month. She has taught creative writing at New York University, Indiana University, The New School in New York City, and Miami Dade College. She is currently working on a novel and her second memoir.
