7 – 9 p.m. | MDC Wolfson Campus, Downtown Miami

A well-crafted romantic sub-plot can add dimension to any genre. A love interest can raise the stakes in a thriller, round out the character of a fantasy trilogy hero/heroine, or serve as the ultimate blind spot for an antihero. With that in mind, it’s worth it to master the romantic arc. In this workshop, we’ll work through the mandatory beats in romance (meet cute, courtship, darkest hour, resolution) and learn to nail each one. We’ll focus on avoiding clichés, showing chemistry, and building intimacy. Finally, we’ll work on expressing emotion in subtle, plausible ways.

Nadine Gonzalez is an author, artist, and attorney. Born in New York City, the daughter of Haitian immigrants, she eventually moved to Miami, Florida. The vibrant city is her muse. Her debut contemporary romance series, Miami Dreams, published by Harlequin Kimani, features Miami professionals trying to succeed in business and in love. Kirkus Reviews has described her work as sexy and spirited. Nadine shares her home with her Cuban American husband and their son.
