Mr. Jean-Claude Exulien was born in Port-au-Prince. He attended L’Université D’Haiti where he earned a B.A. in Anthropology (1961) and a B. A. in Economics (1968). He is the founder of the National Theater of Haiti which opened in 1972. He moved to Miami on May 8, 1977. Mr. Jean-Claude Exulien was one of the first three employees of the Haitian American Community Association of Dade County (H.A.C.A.D.) from 1977-1979. He was also one of the founding members of Konbit Libète. Mr. Jean-Claude Exulien is a reknowned Haitian historian. He currently works as a program director and instructor at the Center for Information and Orientation in Little Haiti. He resides with his wife and four children in the heart of Little Haiti, where he has lived for over twenty-nine years.

Doctor honoris causa in humanities, art historian Marie Alice Théard was born in Haiti. A poet and prose writer, she’s also the manager of the Festival Arts Gallery and a public relations specialist. She’s has been conducting seminars on good manners and etiquette since 1989. Her reviews of Haitian art have been published in Haiti and abroad. As the head of Éditions Théard, Ms. Théard received the IWA publisher award. She is the assistant general director of International  Biographical International Centre of Cambridge (BIC) in America. Her cultural show “Kiskeya, l’île mystérieuse” on Canal Bleu (channels 38 and 89) helps keep Haitian cultural heritage alive. Marie Alice has published five collections of short stories (Petites histoires insolites) and two poetry collections (Cri du cœur and Au pays du soleil bleu), and she’s edited four anthologies (Haïti, la voie de nos silences). She’s a member of AICA and IWA. She considers her children and seven grandchildren her proudest accomplishment.
