Her most recent book, Signal Fires: A Novel, is a national bestseller, and was named a best book of 2022 by Time, The Washington Post, Amazon, and others. Inheritance: A Memoir of Genealogy, Paternity, and Love, was a New York Times bestseller and named a best book of 2019 by Elle, VanityFair, Wired, and Real Simple. Her work has been published in 14 languages and she’s currently developing Signal Fires for its television adaptation. Her book on the process and craft of writing, Still Writing: The Perils and Pleasures of a Creative Life, is being reissued in this, its 10th anniversary year. Shapiro occasionally teaches workshops and retreats and is the co-founder of the Sirenland Writers Conference in Positano, Italy.

LEIGH HABER is an independent writer and reviewer for publications such as The New York Times Book Review and a strategic consultant for Tertulia, Girls Write Now, Equality Now, Zibby Owens Media, and Publishers Marketplace. From 2012 to late 2022, Haber was the director of Oprah's Book Club and vice president of books/books editor for O, The Oprah Magazine and then Oprah Daily, for which she wrote and edited reviews, interviews, and other articles, and curated all books coverage. Haber worked directly with Winfrey to select books for the club and coordinated those campaigns with publishers and other partners. She also regularly ghostwrote many of Winfrey's articles, interview scripts, and, occasionally, her speeches. Previously, Haber worked as a publicist for a division of Random House before transitioning to an editorial position at publishing houses such as Scribner and Hyperion.
