Miami Book Fair, Conecta: Miami Arts and Fundación Cuatrogatos, present Storybook Picnic, a literary picnic the whole family can enjoy.

Children and their families are invited to an unforgettable and fun-filled afternoon, complete with live music and dancing, theater and storytelling sessions, and baskets brimming with FREE children’s books to take home.

Activities begin at 2 p.m. and will include the following:

HOW MANY TALES CAN YOU TELL? An improvisational theater piece by Creative Stage Productions that encourages children to use their imaginations by improvising their magical characters and stories on stage.

BREAK, POP AND LOCK. Miami’s acclaimed b-boy dance crew, the Flipside Kings, teach kids (and their families!) how to pop, lock, and break it down.

ARTS AND CRAFTS. Hands-on activities, arts and crafts designed to spark the imagination and jump-start the creative process through the magic of storytelling. Led by Arts for Learning.

CHARLIE CHAPLIN. Travel back in comedic time courtesy of Cote Composto and her unique Chaplin-inspired performance incorporating elements of Mime, Buffon, and Clown theater.

FACE PAINTING. Transform into your favorite storybook or comic book character, courtesy of Facepaint Glory.

DRUMS AND PERCUSSION. Move to the beat of your own drum with the South Florida Center for Percussive Arts who will teach us about rhythm through fun and interactive percussion workshops and games.

FREE BOOKS ON THE LAWN. The afternoon’s main event. Dozens of baskets filled with books written by leading children’s authors from all over the world, all for you and your little ones to take home… for FREE!
