DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with the Jewish Book Council’s Nu Reads initiative\, Miami Book Fair presents Stories We Share: A Nu Reads Celebration. \nOur first event\, on Wednesday\, March 18th\, will feature a conversation with leading voices in contemporary Jewish literature\, Maya Arad\, Allegra Goodman\, Rachel Kadish\, and Tova Mirvis\, moderated by Stacey Mindich. \nThe panel ends at 8\, but don’t miss the after-party! Born in Israel in 1971\, she received a PhD in linguistics from University College London and for the past twenty years has lived in California where she is writer in residence at Stanford University’s Taube Center for Jewish Studies. \n\n\nAllegra Goodman is the author of seven novels\, including the national bestseller Isola\, which was a Reese’s Book Club pick\, and Sam\, which was a Read with Jenna selection; two short story collections; and a novel for young readers. Her fiction has appeared in The New Yorker and elsewhere\, and has been anthologized in The O. Henry Awards and Best American Short Stories. She lives with her family in Cambridge\, Massachusetts. Goodman’s latest novel This Is Not About Us was chosen as the third official Nu Reads book selection. \n\n\nRachel Kadish is an award-winning fiction writer and essayist. Her work has been read on National Public Radio and has appeared in The New York Times\, Paris Review\, and Ploughshares; her most recent novel\, The Weight of Ink\, was a U.S.A. Today bestseller and recipient of a National Jewish Book Award. She teaches in the MFA Program in Creative Writing at the Jewish Theological Seminary and in Harvard University’s Division of Continuing Education. Kadish currently serves on the board of Jewish Book Council. \n\n\nTova Mirvis is the nationally bestselling author of four novels\, We Would Never\, Visible City\, The Outside World and The Ladies Auxiliary. Her memoir The Book of Separation was a New York Times Book Review Editor’s Choice and excerpted in the New York Times Modern Love Column. Her essays have appeared in publications including The New York Times\, The Washington Post\, The Boston Globe Magazine and Real Simple\, and her fiction has been broadcast on NPR. Mirvis is currently the Nu Reads writer-in-residence. \n\n\nStacey Mindich (Moderator) is a Tony-\, Grammy-\, and Olivier award-winning producer and writer. As sole lead producer\, she nurtured the global hit Dear Evan Hansen through an eight-year development to acclaimed Broadway\, North American Tour\, and West End runs. The show broke box office records\, initiated a worldwide conversation about mental health\, won six Tony Awards\, three Olivier Awards\, and a Grammy. Mindich has produced more than 30 productions and was the recipient of the Robert Whitehead Award for Excellence in Commercial Producing\, the Actor’s Fund Medal of Honor\, and a Lilly Award\, for championing women in theater. Prior to theater producing\, she was a journalist and essayist. She is the board chair of Miami New Drama and the Jewish Book Council\, and serves as an advisor to Miami Book Fair. \n\n\n
