SUMMARY:Creative Writing Workshop: Revision and Fiction with Felipe Bomeny
DESCRIPTION:4 Wednesdays: June 4\, 11\, 18\, 25\, 2025\n7:00 – 9:00 p.m. (2 hours) / In-Person \nPay-What-You-Can Pricing: To ensure that these special workshops facilitated by our Emerging Writer Fellows are as accessible as possible to the widest audience possible\, we’re putting it into your hands to pay what you can for this workshop. Choose a ticket price\, ranging from $25 to $75\, based upon what feels right to you. \n\nRevision can take on many shapes and lead us to unexpected places. In this workshop\, we will consider different strategies for revision—both on the line level and more globally. Working through prompts\, generative exercises\, and short readings\, we will consider audience\, context\, pacing\, and the possibilities of revision. \nAcross our four sessions\, we will also consider how to incorporate revision into a wider writing practice beyond the classroom. This workshop is open to all fiction writers. Whether you are working on a finished story or novel chapter\, or are still in the early stages of a new project\, there will be opportunities to both revise work in progress and generate new writing in class. \n\nScholarships Available for MDC Students\nMiami Book Fair is offering two (2) full-tuition scholarships for MDC students interested in attending the above-listed creative writing workshop. Applicants must be currently-enrolled\, (full time or part time) degree-seeking Miami Dade College students with a demonstrated financial need. Deadline to apply is two weeks before the first class. \nClick here to apply: https://mdc.formstack.com/forms/mdc_student_scholarship_application \n\nFelipe Bomeny\, this year’s Fiction Fellow\, is a graduate of the University of Chicago and holds an MFA in fiction from the University of Texas\, Austin. His work has appeared in Michigan Quarterly Review and Waybill\, among other publications.
