Dear Friend,
There are times in life when we rely on our friends for help and support. Now is one of those times. In fact, there has never been a better or more critical time to be a Friend of the 2011 Miami Book Fair International. As you know, the Fair has continued to grow and improve, in spite of some of the most difficult economic times in recent history. We hope you’ll agree that last year’s 2010 Fair was one of the best ever!
Now, we ask for your help in order to ensure that the Miami Book Fair remains what is has become—one of the premier cultural and literary events in the country. For 27 years, Miami Book Fair has offered diverse literary programming, garnering praise and recognition far and wide, including The New York Times, which hailed it as the model on which all the other book fairs in the country have structured themselves.
If you are a new friend, welcome to our community of book lovers. You have joined a family of forward-thinking supporters of culture and the arts. If you are not yet a Friend, we encourage you to become one. We depend on the support of our Friends so that the Miami Book Fair can continue to offer its amazing array of programming, including prize-winning authors, activities which get children excited about reading, Ibero-American literary notables, a vibrant street fair, and much more.
We’re pleased to announce that China will participate in the 2011 Fair as its featured country. China’s rich cultural and literary heritage will infuse the Fair with a spirit and energy as robust and exciting as that of its people.
But, in order to make it all happen, we need your financial support. Friends of the Miami Book Fair can rest assured that their contributions support the literary arts, a critical and necessary component of any culture. So, please renew your membership. When you do, please consider making an additional donation to the Fair. Even a modest gift of $40 can make an enormous difference.
Please visit www.miamibookfair.com to learn more about the programs your support will make possible. Help us continue to create a literary legacy that has lasted more than a quarter century and is still going strong.
Most of all, thank you in advance for being—in every sense of the word—a great Friend.
