Welcome to the 2008 edition, and the 25th Anniversary of the Miami Book Fair International. We are immensely proud that this is our 25th Fair. As we look back, it strikes us that, more than the Nobel Prize and Pulitzer winners and literary stars that we have presented, and more than the millions of books sold during the iconic Street Fair, the most wonderful and important part of the fair has been you.
The Book Fair is a guardian and promoter of literacy and education. Every year the Fair presents hundreds of authors, the best that the U.S. and the world have to offer. It celebrates cultural diversity in the International Pavilions Village and fosters a love of reading in the youngsters who take part of the fun in Children’s Alley.
As a result of the thought-provoking and entertaining programs it presents year after year, the Fair has become one of the most important cultural events in the country. It was hailed by The New York Times as the model for all the festivals that have been founded since.
We do it all for you. But we can’t do it without you.
