The Comix Galaxy at Miami Book Fair International 2008

In 2008, Miami Book Fair International partnered with Diamond Book Distributors to present the Comix Galaxy, a universe’s worth of comprehensive programs on graphic novels and the comics world that celebrated their historical place in our country's literary life, as well as their recent rise in popularity and integration into the mainstream via book
stores, libraries and educational curricula all over the country.

With the participation of the format's most respected and beloved figures, including Art Spiegelman (who designed Miami Book Fair’s 2008 official poster), as well as Brad Meltzer, Ariel Shrag, Frank Beddor and other established authors, creators and newer talent, Miami Book Fair included educational programs for librarians, educators, creators and publishing professionals on Friday, November 14.

During the weekend Street Fair, Nov. 14, 15 and 16, there was also expanded programming for the children's and teens' portions of the Fair, as well as publisher/exhibitor participation.

Additionally, sessions with creators/authors took place over the weekend, when nearly 400 authors presented their works to standing-room-only audiences.
