Thank you for joining us for the 2019 Miami Book Fair! We look forward to seeing you in Miami. To help you get settled in, and to ensure that your presentation runs as smoothly as possible, we’ve put together some important information. Please read carefully; most of the questions we get from authors are answered in the following.

TRANSPORTATION

Hotel Shuttle
An author shuttle is available from the Marriott Hotel. A schedule of shuttle service to and from the Book Fair is available in the Guest Relations Suite (Biscayne Island meeting room) at the Marriott Miami Biscayne Bay (1633 North Bayshore Drive, (305) 374-3900).

Public Transportation
Metromover services the downtown Miami area and is free to the public. Take any of the three Metromover loops (Omni, Brickell, Inner) and exit at College North or College Bayside Station. For more information, visit miamidade.gov/transit/metromover. Miami Trolley is a free hop-on-hop-off trolley with regular service to downtown on its Brickell, Coral Way, Midtown, and Overtown routes. For routes and schedules, visit miamigov.com/trolley.

Parking
Free parking is available in the Miami Dade College parking garage, Building 7, 500 NE Second Ave. Entrance on NE 5th Street. Paid parking is available in Miami Parking Garage No. 3 on NE 2nd Street between NE Second Avenue and NE First Avenue. Valet parking is available for $7 at the southeast corner of N.E. 5th St. and 2nd Ave.

Airport
Miami Book Fair does not provide transportation between the airport and hotel. Taxis, Uber, and Lyft are easy and reliable means of transportation from MIA to downtown Miami. In addition, Metrorail runs from MIA to downtown: ride to Government Center and transfer to Metromover’s Inner Loop. Exit at College North or College Bayside Station. For fares and other information, visit miamidade.gov/transit/metrorail.

ADMISSION TO THE FAIR

Miami Book Fair is held at the Wolfson Campus of Miami Dade College (300 NE 2^nd Ave., Miami, FL 33132), with entrances to the Street Fair on NE 2^nd Ave., NE 4^th St., and NE 3^rd St. Proceed to a “will call” window located at any of the entrances. The attendants will have your name on the author list; authors and their guests enter the fairgrounds free of charge during the weekend of November 23-24. Please arrive one hour prior to your scheduled appearance and go directly to the Author Hospitality Suite (MDC library, Building 1, 2^nd floor) to receive your name badge and author packet. Be sure to wear your author badge at all times. It will allow you access to Book Fair VIP events and hospitality suites.

AUTHOR HOSPITALITY SUITE

Authors Presenting Sunday through Friday, November 17-21
The Author Hospitality Suite will be located in Room 1376 (Building 1, 3^rd floor). It will be open Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Please come to the Hospitality Suite an hour before your presentation to receive your name badge and author packet. You are welcome in the Hospitality Suite at any time during its opening hours to relax, eat and drink, and greet other authors. Book Fair staff and volunteers will also be on hand to answer and questions.

Authors Presenting Saturday and Sunday, November 23-24
The Author Hospitality Suite is located in the MDC library (Building 1, 2^nd floor) and is open Saturday and Sunday, November 23-24, from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Please come to the Hospitality Suite an hour before your presentation to receive your name badge and author packet. If you have multiple or back-to-back presentations, you do not need to return to the Hospitality between each presentation. However, you are also welcome in the Hospitality Suite at any time during its opening hours to relax, eat and drink, and greet other authors. Book Fair staff and volunteers will also be on hand to answer and questions.

Please note that weekend authors must pick up their badge and author packet on either Saturday or Sunday; these materials will not be available earlier in the week.

PRESENTATION

General guidelines are below. Please contact the author program coordinators for specifics regarding your own event if you have questions.

Length of Presentation
Please prepare to speak for 15 – 20 minutes for group presentations, or 30 – 40 minutes for solo presentations.

Format of Presentation
You may choose to speak about your book, read from your book or a combination of the two. After audience Q&A, book signing will occur in designated autographing areas. Your room host will provide more information and direct you where to go. For sessions whose formats vary such as school visits, workshops, moderator-led discussions, etc—you will receive special instructions.

AUDIO/ VISUAL NEEDS

If you have specific A/V requests for your presentation beyond needing a microphone, please send this information to: Brianne Griffith bgriffit@mdc.edu no later than Thursday, November 14. All presentations must be in a PC compatible format—for example, slide presentations should be saved in PowerPoint rather than Keynote, etc. You should save your presentation materials on a thumbdrive or CD—or, if you are a Mac-user, bring an adapter cable and a backup on a thumbdrive.

Drink + Draw! Miami Book Fair Style

For the fourth year, Miami Book Fair pits famed comics authors/illustrators against each other in a one-on-one battle for the title of Drink & Draw Champ! Join some of the world’s top cartoonists for a hilariously graphic night of sipping and sketching as you put pencil to paper, working in teams, to create your own mini-comic. Prizes, drinks, and fun-guaranteed..

There’s No party like a Book Fair Authors’ Party at the Standard! Kick-off the annual authors’ party with Literary Death Match, co-created by Adrian Todd Zuniga, an event that marries the literary and performative aspects of Def Poetry Jam, rapier-witted quips of American Idol’s judging (without any meanness), and the ridiculousness and hilarity of Double Dare. Follow it up with drinks and bites on the incomparable poolside deck overlooking Biscayne Bay. Transportation provided from the Marriott Biscayne Bay to the Author’s Party Saturday evening.

Merci de participer à cette nouvelle édition du Salon du Livre de Miami en novembre 2019. Nous attendons votre venue avec impatience ! Voici quelques infos pratiques pour une visite agréable et une intervention sans incidents. A lire attentivement !

TRANSPORT

Service de navette au Marriott

Un service de navette gratuit sera à votre disposition à l’hôtel Marriott pour vous emmener au Salon du Livre. L’horaire sera affiché dans la salle de réunion « Hibiscus Island » de la Suite « Guest Relations » au Marriott Miami Biscayne Bay (1633 North Bayshore Drive, (305) 374-3900).

Transport public

Metromover dessert gratuitement le centre-ville de Miami. Choisissez l’une des trois lignes du Metromover (Omni, Brickell, ou Inner). Arrêt au « College North » ou au « College Bayside ». Pour plus d’informations, visitez miamidade.gov/transit/metromover.

Votre nom figurera sur la liste des intervenants. L’entrée est gratuite pour les intervenants et leurs invités au cours du week-end des 23 et 24 novembre. Prière d’arriver au moins une heure avant votre présentation et de vous rendre directement à la Salle d’Accueil des Auteurs (« Author Hospitality Suite », Bibliothèque du MDC, bâtiment 1, 2e étage) pour prendre possession d’une pochette contenant votre horaire et une accréditation. Portez votre badge en tout temps. Il vous permettra d’accéder aux événements VIP du Salon et aux salles d’accueil.

SALLE D’ACCUEIL DES AUTEURS / AUTHOR HOSPITALITY SUITE

Les auteurs #ReadCaribbean présenteront les samedi 23 et dimanche 24 novembre.

La Salle d’Accueil des Auteurs se trouve dans la bibliothèque du MDC (bâtiment 1, 2e étage) et sera ouverte les samedi 23 et dimanche 24 novembre, de 8 h 30 à 17 h.

Prière d’arriver au moins une heure avant votre présentation et de vous rendre directement au à la Salle d’Accueil des Auteurs pour prendre possession d’une pochette contenant votre horaire et une accréditation. Dans le cas de présentations successives, nul besoin de revenir à la Salle d’Accueil après chacune des présentations. Cependant, vous êtes toujours le (la) bienvenu(e). Venez vous détendre, vous restaurer, et faire la connaissance des autres auteurs/intervenants. Les membres de l’équipe #MiamiBookFair2018 et un groupe de bénévoles seront sur place pour répondre à vos questions. .

PRÉSENTATION

Les directives générales sont ci-dessous. Pour toute question spécifique concernant votre intervention, veuillez vous adresser aux coordonnateurs du programme.

Durée de la présentation
Attendez-vous à parler 15 à 20 minutes (présentations en groupe) ou 30 à 40 minutes (présentations en solo).

Format de la présentation
Vous pouvez choisir de discuter de votre livre, lire des passages du livre, ou une combinaison des deux. Après une session questions/réponses, la vente-signature se fera dans un espace clairement indiqué. L’hôte vous fournira plus d’informations et vous indiquera où aller. Pour les sessions dont les formats varient, comme par exemple les randonnées scolaires, les ateliers, les discussions animées par des modérateurs, etc., vous recevrez des instructions spéciales.

AUDIOVISUELS

ReadCaribbean n’utilise pas d’AV autre qu’un microphone pour les présentations.

La Fête des Auteurs / Author Party

Ensuite : Restaurez-vous près de la piscine en admirant la vue incomparable de Biscayne Bay. .

Estamos felices de contar con su presencia en esta edición de la Feria, y le presentamos aquí algunas informaciones que le serán útiles Recomendamos que lea esta información con detenimiento, pues responde a las preguntas más frecuentes que suelen tener los autores.

TRANSPORTE

Shuttle desde el Hotel

Se ofrece transporte gratuito y continuo entre el hotel Marriott y la Feria. Consulte los detalles en la Suite de Hospitalidad de Autores en el hotel Marriott Biscayne Bay, 1633 N Bayshore Dr., Hibiscus Island Meeting Banquet Room (305-374-3900).

Transporte público

También puede utilizar el Metromover desde la estación Omni Station, ubicada a media cuadra del Marriott, hasta la estación College North. Este servicio está disponible desde las 5:30 a.m. hasta la medianoche, y es gratuito. El Miami Trolley es un autobús gratuito que pasa por Brickell, Coral Way, Midtown y Overtown. Para más detalles consulte la web miamigov.com/trolley.

Estacionamiento

Hay parking gratuito disponible en el garaje del Miami Dade College, en el edificio 7, ubicado en 500 NE 2nd Ave. La entrada al estacionamiento está en NE 5th St. También puede encontrar estacionamiento pago en el Miami Parking Garage No. 3, ubicado en NE 2nd St, entre NE 2nd Ave y NE 1st Ave.

Aeropuerto

Desafortunadamente, no contamos con los medios logísticos para ofrecer servicio de recogida en el aeropuerto. No obstante, el aeropuerto queda solo a 15 minutos de la Feria. Puede tomar un Taxi, Lyft o Uber. También puede tomar el Metrorail hasta Government Center y luego el Metromover Inner Loop hasta College Bayside o College North para llegar a la Feria. ENTRADA DE CORTESÍA A LA FERIA

La Feria del Libro de Miami se lleva a cabo en el Wolfson Campus del Miami Dade College, 300 NE 2nd Ave., en Downtown Miami. El día de su participación, planifique llegar por lo menos una hora antes de su presentación. Como autor participante de la Feria del Libro, usted y un acompañante que llegue con usted pueden entrar gratuitamente al recinto ferial durante el fin de semana del 23 y 24 de noviembre. El resto de los días, la entrada es gratuita para todos. Para entrar en el recinto ferial en el fin de semana, diríjase a la zona designada para los autores en la ventana “Will Call”, situada en cada una de las cuatro entradas.

HOSPITALITY SUITE DE LOS AUTORES

Una vez en el recinto ferial, de acuerdo a la fecha de su presentación, debe dirigirse a:

Si presenta del domingo 17 al viernes 22 de noviembre: Hospitality Suitede los Autores, en el tercer piso del Edificio 1.
Si presenta el sábado 23 o domingo 24 de noviembre: Área de Check-in de los Autores del Programa en Español, en el quinto piso del Edificio 8.

En el Hospitality Suite le daremos la bienvenida, recibirá su tarjeta de identificación y su kit de cortesía, que estarán listos el día de su presentación, no antes. Desde allí, lo acompañaremos al salón de su presentación. Recomendamos que use su tarjeta de identificación cada vez que se encuentre en el recinto de la Feria del Libro o en cualquier evento relacionado con la Feria del Libro, para que el personal de Feria y los voluntarios puedan identificarlo como invitado especial.

SU PRESENTACIÓN

Duración

Generalmente, cada autor tiene 15 a 20 minutos para su presentación si comparte la mesa con otros autores, o 30-35 minutos si la presentación es individual. Al final de la sesión, reservamos de 10 a 15 minutos para darle la oportunidad al público de hacerle preguntas al invitado.

Formato

La dinámica de nuestra Feria es muy informal. Lo invitamos a utilizar su tiempo de la forma que más le guste, hablando del proceso creativo, leyendo algún pasaje de la obra, etc. Al finalizar, la firma de libros se realizará en una zona designada a la salida del salón de la presentación.

EQUIPO TÉCNICO

Todos los salones tienen micrófono(s). Si necesita algún equipo técnico más, comuníquelo por mail (iflores2@mdc.edu) antes del 7 de noviembre. Todas las presentaciones deben ser compatibles con PC (formato .ppt). Traiga el material en una Memoria USB. La Fiesta de Autores:

Tendrá lugar en The Standard Hotel, en Miami Beach, 40 Island Ave. Habrá cócteles de cortesía, seguidos de cash bar y hors d’oeuvres. Ofreceremos transporte desde el hotel a la fiesta. Por favor, acompáñenos en este evento el sábado 23 de noviembre a las 8 PM. Todo lo que necesita para acceder es su invitación o su gafete de autor. Por favor, diríjase a la Suite de Hospitalidad de Autores en el Hotel para saber los horarios del transporte hacia y desde la fiesta.

Seminario de Literatura Infantil:

Seminario para padres y educadores sobre la literatura infantil y fomento de la lectura, el sábado 23 de noviembre de 10 AM a 6 PM en el Salón 7106 (Edif. 7, 1er piso)
