Author(s) and Guest(s)

Mary L. Zamore

The Sacred Table: Creating a Jewish Food Ethic (CCAR Press, $19.95), edited by Mary L. Zamore, serves up a dialogue about the intersection of Judaism and food. This anthology of essays explores the questions and challenges of navigating the personal and communal choices about Kashrut, the historic Jewish approach to eating.

Cheryl Tan

Food and fashion writer Cheryl Tan's first book is her memoir, A Tiger in the Kitchen (Voice, $ 14,99), her account of coming to terms with her dual cultural identity by spending a year cooking with her female relatives in Singapore.  " . . . the meat of this memoir is what Tan learns about her resilient family, whose members come together both to cook and to heal,” says People Magazine.

Michael Schwartz

According to Michael Schwartz the secret to good food is… good food. Honored with the prestigious James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: South in 2010, Schwartz is recognized by his peers and the diners that flock to his restaurants, including Miami’s Michael's Genuine Food & Drinks and a new outpost on Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands, for his fresh, simple and pure cuisine incorporating responsibly--and locally sourced--seasonal ingredients. His first book, Michael’s Genuine Food: Down-to-Earth Cooking for People Who Love to Eat (Clarkson Potter, $35), is now available online and in bookstores nationwide.
