In the illustrated children’s book, Mount Vernon's Magnificent Menagerie and the Very Mysterious Guest (Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, $15.95), written by Linda Burgess and illustrated by her daughter Maggie Dunlap, a French foxhound belonging to George Washington stirs up trouble with the other animals with news of a mysterious new creature expected to arrive a the big party that night.

In the illustrated children’s book Mount Vernon’s Magnificent Menagerie and the Very Mysterious Guest (Mount Vernon Ladies' Association of the Union, $15.95), a collaboration between Linda Burgess and her daughter Maggie Dunlap, a French foxhound belonging to George Washington stirs up trouble with the other animals with news of a mysterious new creature expected to arrive a the big party that night. Burgess has written extensively about art and travel.  Her work is shown in several collections, including The National Museum of Women in the Arts. At the age of 10, Maggie Dunlap illustrated The Four Dog Blues Band, a children’s book about art published by the Mississippi Museum of Art.
