Author(s) and Guest(s)

Michael Kupperman

The recent publication of Twain’s (real) autobiography has inspired cartoonist Michael Kupperman to present Mark Twain's Autobiography:  1910-2010 (Fantagraphics Books, $19.99), a full-blown parody, in which Twain admits he's still alive, met the Six Million Dollar Man, had a love affair with Mamie Eisenhower, and accidentally became involved in X-rated films.  Kupperman's cartoons and illustrations have appeared in magazines from the New Yorker to Fortune.  He is also the author of Tales Designed to Thrizzle

Kate Beaton

Hark! A Vagrant (Drawn and Quarterly, $19.95), is Kate Beaton's collection of comic strips about famous characters and events in history and literature. "A high-minded version of The Far Side that is at once of-the-moment and timeless,"  says the Los Angeles Times.  Beaton's History Comics won the 2009 Doug Wright Award for Best Emerging Talent.  Kate Beaton's appearance is cancelled.

Jim Ottaviani

In their illustrated biography, Feynman (First Second Books, $29.99), Jim Ottaviani and Leland Myrick present the larger-than-life exploits of Nobel-winning quantum physicist, adventurer, musician, and one of the greatest minds of the twentieth century: Richard Feynman. Ottaviani is the world’s preeminent writer of comics and graphic novels about science, whose work includes a biography of Niels Bohr.  Myrick is the author and illustrator of Missouri Boy.

Ray Fawkes

In One Soul, (Oni Press, $24.99), author/illustrator Ray Fawkes presents 18 lives sequentially, from womb to death. "A remarkable and multilinear reading experience," says Booklist in its starred review.  Fawkes tells the story of 18 individuals throughout history whose lives unfold simultaneously in page spreads, split into eighteen illustrated panels.  He has previously authored several comics, ranging from introspective to slapstick, including World of Darkness, Possessions and Vampire Rome
