Part memoir, part travelogue, Feast for the Senses: A Musical Odyssey (Chronicle Books, $40), by Lin Arison and Michael Tilson Thomas, is a lushly-illustrated volume featuring the sites, foods, crafts and festivals that give Umbria its unique character. Thomas, is the celebrated music director of the New World Symphony Orchestra. Arison one of the symphony's founders. Included in the book are three DVDs: a short documentary on the musicians of Umbria; a filmed conversation between Thomas and architect Frank Gehry, designer of the orchestra's new Miami campus; and an "episode" of MTT on Music, lectures, with musical examples, narrated by Thomas. Arison is the author of A Love Story in Mediterranean Israel and Travels with Van Gogh and the Impressionists: Discovering the Connections.
