Children's Alley Storytelling Stage
Friday, Nov. 13, 10:30 a.m. - Sunday, Nov. 15, 6:00 p.m., Children’s Alley (Plaza behind Building 1)
The Storytelling Stage presents a variety of stories told by some of the best children’s storytellers and performers in the country. Hear tales from around the world and across traditions, with African-American, Asian, Latin American, European and Jewish stories highlighted.
Among the highlights:
The Kehewin Native Dance Theatre performs traditional Trickster stories, as well as Dancing the Red Path. Gerald Hausman shares stories of Native America, animals, mythology and the West Indies culture. He also reads from Three Little Birds on Bob Marley’s personal vision of positive faith. Carole Weatherford reads her book, Becoming Billie Holiday, while Madafo, The Griot, will present stories and music of The Greedy Hyena and friends. The PJ Library, a program of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, will present Something From Nothing and Things Could Always Be Worse with storyteller Carrie Sue Ayvar. Cuenteros gives bilingual presentations in English and Spanish.
Plus don’t miss Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by the Playhouse Theater and Little Red Riding Hood by Bits ’N Pieces Puppet Theater.

Gerald Hausman
Gerald Hausman is a folklorist, storyteller and author of books for adults and children. His books include Three Little Birds (with Cedella Marley), Time Swimmer, 56 Thoughts from 56 Hope Road: The Sayings & Psalms of Bob Marley (with Cedella Marley), Meditations with the Navajo, and The Image Taker: The Selected Stories and Photographs of Edward S. Curtis (World Wisdom). He lives in Bokeelia, Fla.
Carole Boston Weatherford
Carole Boston Weatherford, author of Becoming Billie Holiday (Boyd’s Mills Press), is a New York Times bestselling poet and writer. Her many books for children have won the Caldecott Honor, Coretta Scott King Award, and other prizes. Born in Baltimore, she teaches at Fayetteville State University and lives in Highpoint, N.C. “This captivating title places readers solidly into Holiday's world.” -- School Library Journal.
