Patricia Engel’s novel, Vida (Grove/Atlantic, $14.00), marks the debut of an author who Junot Díaz has called “gloriously gifted and alarmingly intelligent.” Vida follows Sabina, a young Colombian-American girl navigating her life as a daughter of the Latino Diaspora, confronting her shifting identity through relationships over three decades, from her small all-American New Jersey hometown, to Manhattan, and then Miami. She is also a contributor to the ninth edition of Tigertail's annual poetry publication, Tigertail, A South Florida Annual: Florida Flash (Tigertail, $15.00), edited by Lynne Barrett.
