Michael Moore
Writer, director, actor, political activist, Michael Moore burst onto the American cultural scene in the 1980s, as part of a one-man satirical crusade to rouse the national conscience against corporate injustice. His debut film, Roger & Me, chronicled his attempts to interview the CEO of General Motors, Roger Smith. Moore wrote, directed, and starred in the film, which became the highest-grossing American documentary of all time. He went on to direct and produce Fahrenheit 9/11, Bowling for Columbine, and Sicko, which also place in the top ten highest-grossing documentaries, and which also earned several international awards. Capturing the zeitgeist of the past fifty years, his memoir, Here Comes Trouble (Grand Central, $26.99) takes readers on an unforgettable, take-no-prisoners ride through the life and times of the nation's unofficial provocateur laureate.
