Melissa Boyajian

Michelle Boyajian's debut novel, Lies of the Heart (Penguin, $15.00), explores a wife's worst nightmare:  Her husband has been shot by one of his mentally disabled patients.  Boyajian expertly conveys the complexities of marriage, relationships and family, as well as the lies we tell ourselves, in order to maintain facades that hide disturbing secrets.
